How to Chill out in Hot Summer
With the weather breaking heat records this June in Austin, I felt it my duty on behalf of the Austin Acupuncture community to help keep my fellow Austinites cool on these sweltering hot days. Diet is key to keeping cool internally. Eat more melons as they cool our blood and help our bodies expel heat. Cantaloupe, Honeydew and Watermelon are a few that all of us can find at the grocery store. Also, Cucumbers, lemons and limes are a great cooling treat. You can put slices of cucumbers, lemons or limes in water and it makes for a refreshing and cooling glass of water.
CHIROPRATORS ARE NOT ACUPUNCTURISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED BY CHIROPRACTORS WHO CLAIM TO BE ACUPUNCTURIST. They have very little training( maybe as much as a weekend) and DO NOT know enough to call themselves Acupuncturists! IF you want to get cracked and adjusted go see them.
If you want Acupuncture come see me or another acupuncturist in Austin.
LIve Well Austin!!!!!
How Being at Peace Can Affect Your Health
In Austin, Acupuncture helps many to calm down, de-stress and unwind. Most people enjoy a sense of deep relaxation once they get up from a treatment and then get to continue on home or on with their day. Why and how does this feeling help or contribute to better health?
Getting to the Root of Your Health Concern
Whether you suffer from back pain or emotional pain, getting to the root cause of your suffering is the main objective at TigerLily Acupuncture. We emphasize this in our unique approach to helping people in Austin. For example, if we look only at the pain that a patient comes in with and treat only the pain, than the pain will be relieved. But, this pain is likely to return and the reason for that is that the symptom was treated and not the root of the problem. Perhaps there is some underlying weakness, or maybe tightness due to lack of exercise or stretching.
Real Acupuncture in Austin vs. “Other” Acupuncture
The other day in the Paper I read of a practitioner calling themself an “acupuncturist” and it struck me as odd as they were in fact a Chiropractor. In further research I discovered that they had never attended acupuncture school, had no acupuncture license and really only put needles where you hurt on your back. This is NOT acupuncture. This typically gives all of the real people who practice this art for a living a very bad reputation.
Happiness and Your Health
Spring in Austin Texas is one of the best places to live in the world. The weather is great, there are tons of marathons, triathlons, 5 and 10k races, kite festivals, and, of course, great live music outdoors. So I think it is safe to say that there is plenty to be happy about. Spring is a time of growth and in Chinese medical theory it is the time of the Liver. The Liver is the organ that moves Qi in the body, which is one reason why in spring it is easy to get out of the stagnant funk of winter. As your Qi begins to move, people generally feel less depressed and happier.
WE ACCEPT INSURANCE!!
Yes we do accept insurance. More and more insurance companies are now covering acupuncture as a medical therapy. We are happy to check your benefits and discover what your policy specifically covers, what your deductible is, how much if any is left on your deductible to meet before your benefits begin, what your co-pay is and how many visits/ year you are allowed. We can usually get this checked while you receive your first treatment. Or if you would rather call us and provide the necessary information we can inform you of the details by phone prior to your first visit.
Feeling Hot and Angry
Driving can be a great adventure in Austin TX. Traffic can be brutal and really delay our daily lives. Imagine for a little while that you were stuck on Mopac in a bad traffic jam in August, in the afternoon and you’re a/c just went out. Imagine the heat, the exhaust, the BEING STUCK with little to no way out of it for say a mile or so. I’m sweating just thinking about it. This is the same inside your body. When a â€traffic jam “ happens of qi and/or blood, you heat up and get symptoms like irritability, hot flashes, ringing in your ears, headaches, and finally a flushed red face.
