What We Do

Tigerlily practices Traditional Chinese Medicine. TCM is a system of primary healthcare that includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, remedial massage (Tuina), exercise, breathing therapy (Qigong/ Taichi), diet and lifestyle advice.

The primary focus of modern TCM is that good health relies on the restoration and maintenance of Harmony and Balance of the mind, body and spirit. This Harmony with ourselves, our emotions and our life is achieved by looking at a person as a whole being as well as understanding their symptoms.

Each one of us is an individual, and our bodies respond differently to stimulus. Within the TCM model, we are able to recognize your individuality, and work with its unique constitution to bring you to a greater state of health and happiness.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a 5000 year old complete diagnostic medical system from China that can accurately diagnose, treat and even prevent illness. It is a safe, effective and painless way to treat a wide variety of health conditions and concerns. We all have life energy called QI (chee) flowing through specific pathways or meridians. Sometimes blockages can occur. When this happens we experience symptoms of sickness or more accurately imbalances. Acupuncture is the insertion of pre-sterilized, single-use needles into points along the body that access this Qi and re-establish balance in the individual.
Nutritional Counseling
Nutritional counseling is one of our additional services. Our advice is focused on your health condition and diet and how those two factors affect one another. We view nutrition as a key factor in your health and recovery.
Chinese Herbs
We prescribe in Chinese Herbs in our clinic. They have been used in China for thousands of years and have taken great care of the Chinese people throughout their history. There are over 350 herbs we choose from to treat a wide variety of symptoms. They are easier for the body to process than western pharmaceuticals. We provide herbal prescriptions in pill form, powders (which can be encapsulated) and raw. Most prescriptions cost less than $30.
Shiatsu
The Japanese word Shiatsu means finger pressure. This is the main technique that the practitioner uses on the patient while giving Shiatsu. We also may use the elbows, knees, and feet to elicit a stronger sensation. Like acupuncture, Shiatsu focuses on the flow of Qi, or life energy that circulates through the body in specific channels or pathways. We like to incorporate this into a treatment when needed. It feels great and helps to relax and open the meridians we choose to treat.
Tuina
Tuina is Chinese Massage and, like Chinese Medicine, it started around 2700 B.C. Techniques within the practice of Tuina focus on pressure points located on the body that will have a curative effect on the patient. Tuina is much more specific than general massage in application but the same wonderful relaxing benefits are felt by those who experience this ancient style of bodywork.
